Renewed contact with l’Abbaye de Thiron

On October 13th 2024, while on holiday in France, Paul (NOG treasurer) and Sheila went to Thiron-Gardais, to meet the committee of the Order of Thiron and to visit the abbey, which is the ‘Mother Abbey’ from which the monks founded Lindores, Arbroath, Kelso and several other abbeys in the 13th Century. The vast nave of the abbey is still standing and there is a major project to restore it. The grounds of the abbey are beautiful and extensive and host a Celtic festival every 2 years in early June.

Many of the committee members are the same as visited Newburgh in 2011. More photos are available
